If Not Us, Then Who?

Something that I encountered earlier today seems to be eating up my thoughts more than I thought it would! I was walking back home with bags of groceries and witnessed something unusual. A cyclist fell off his bike due to skidding and a pedestrian helped him up. Pretty normal, isn't it? But what really caught my attention was the praises that the public was showering the pedestrian with. The first one said, "Oh, that is so kind of you". The other one nodded and said, "It's hard to find people like you these days". I'm pretty sure the pedestrian wasn't expecting a hail because that person just smiled and walked away!  Well, that just made me curious. Isn't it normal for a person to help out another regardless of what situation there are in? Do we really need praises for being a human? Mother Teresa was not expecting an award for devoting her entire life in helping fellow humans. Did she? Isn't it something that all of us should be doing na...

The Beauty of 21st Century

Time and time again, the human mind never fails to allure me. It intrigues me how easily influenced our mind can be. Pessimistic influences from our peers are understandable at times; but we ourselves beguiling it? To say, "That's  beyond my understanding", is an understatement! More than that, it is surprisingly shocking to fathom how self-centred people have nurtured into. People are too beauty conscious and are always in pressure that society imposes. They let others define their beauty and this phenomenon, little by little, embeds into their subconscious mind. The way they look physically is never satisfying and, in turn, they gravitate to wanting more. A self-created image forms in the mind and they consistently keep comparing themselves to it. Flaws are the only trait that they see and calories are the only maths that they mastered in! Well, weighing scales, on the other hand, are the most dreaded equipment. Every time they stood in front of a mirror, they...

New Year, New Me??

So, it is that time of the year where people start to pen down their New Year, New Me to-do lists!  NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS - Do they really matter? Are we really on par with what we planned a year ago? The ultimate truth is that, by the time we actual made up to those resolutions, we would have aged more than we could think of! One thing that we need to fathom is that we can never predict our future for we don't even know what's to befall us the next second.  No matter how hard we strive to achieve those goals within a year, it is never going to be that easy nor will it meet up to our own expectations. A year may sound like eternity when bestowed with fresh 365 days, or 366 days, since it's a leap year. But when we actually step into it, it just speeds off! Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that nothing is to happen or change. Just that, we might not perceive the change. Time seems to fly by in a lightning pace, yet life progresses slowly and stead...

Respect Is All It Takes..

We always claim to love someone so dearly, yet somehow or rather hurt them. We love our parents, but argue with everything they have to say. We love our children with all our heart but don't even have time to sit with them. 'I love you', we say! But, do we really mean it? Is love alone sufficient for us to live "happily ever after"? What is love when we can't even sit together for a little while? What is love when greeting good morning and good night is all we do? How is the feeling 'love' reasonable enough to carry on with life?  No! Mere love can't make us feel on cloud nine. For a little while; probably yes. Life-long? Certainly not! I'm not an anti-love person nor am I preaching the rest of the world to stop loving. I'm just stating a fact that many of us seem to turn a blind eye upon.  Let's start from the basic. A husband and wife relationship that is solely based on love doesn't take eternity to last. When they ...
