Why Suicide?

It blows my head off that we are almost heading towards the half-year mark. Doesn't time fly? Time simply flew and the olden days' memories stay fresh in our minds. Or rather, dark memories bug our soul! From the title itself you would have figured out that this is going to be either a controversial or a macabre topic.

I am indeed baffled with the multitudinous cases of suicides that made way to the headlines in no time. Of utmost honesty, I have read at least 9 cases of suicides in a matter of 3 months! My mind went on a roller coaster ride with limitless jerks and twists and turns. I started thinking, as always.

Why do people commit suicide?!

That very question lead me to an extensive (approximately 2 months) research. After much needed browsing and readings, I would like to equate suicide to GIVE UP! People simply had given up love, hope, joy, trust, job, dignity, and most importantly; life. They get tired of facing failures, agitated with their joblessness, and agonised by their helplessness. There are thousands, if not millions of reasons on why humans decide to cease their living. Some reasons may sound trivial and foolish to us. Yet, how the victims' minds retaliate those situations; we will never be able to perceive it!

While researching on these disheartening cases, I came across many comments and the topmost remark was that the suicide victims are lucidly hasty and selfish in making such gruesome decision. It may be partly acceptable given that, if a minute of thought was put into the lives of their loved ones, maybe, just maybe they would have decided against it. But, there are countless instances in which the victims committed suicide to avoid being a burden to their families. Now, did they not think about others? How are these thoughts classified as "selfish" then?

On that note, I would now like to equate suicide as Oh-So COMPLEX!

Rather than the aftermath, what immensely intrigued me is the thought process of those victims. Although impossible, I wanted to jump into their heads and decipher on why they decided to commit suicide. Ambitious, you may think. But, that's ME! With the help of my thinking cap, I am pretty sure that it is a decision that's made with no haste. A considerable amount of time must have been put into it. In my opinion, I think a person must be brave enough to jump into such conclusion.

Hey, come on. There ain't an easy way out of our lives, are there? Wrist cutting, drowning, hanging, electrocution, jumping from height, consumption of poison, vehicular impact and many other methods, are all excruciating; both mentally and physically.

How I wish they would have toughen them up to face their hardships instead!

Simply summing up my scrutiny, there are certain pointers to look out for when someone is being suicidal. First, they tend to speak about it more often. They seclude themselves most of the times and avoid even the simplest form of communication. Any change in their normal behaviours is also a hallmark. Certain moody ones might become cheerier out of blue and vice versa. Look out for them. What to do then, you ask? Simply be there for them. Show them their importance. But, please never ever make their problems appear trite even when it is. Talk more often and most importantly, DO NOT avoid them. If possible, encourage them to get medical help. Together, we can stop this!

To those of you who have had the slightest idea of ending your life, STOP! Remember that every lock has a key and you just need to find the correct one. Besides, what is there to fear when you don't have to find it on your own! :)

Respect Is All It Takes..

We always claim to love someone so dearly, yet somehow or rather hurt them. We love our parents, but argue with everything they have to say. We love our children with all our heart but don't even have time to sit with them. 'I love you', we say! But, do we really mean it? Is love alone sufficient for us to live "happily ever after"? What is love when we can't even sit together for a little while? What is love when greeting good morning and good night is all we do? How is the feeling 'love' reasonable enough to carry on with life?  No! Mere love can't make us feel on cloud nine. For a little while; probably yes. Life-long? Certainly not! I'm not an anti-love person nor am I preaching the rest of the world to stop loving. I'm just stating a fact that many of us seem to turn a blind eye upon.  Let's start from the basic. A husband and wife relationship that is solely based on love doesn't take eternity to last. When they ...

The Beauty of 21st Century

Time and time again, the human mind never fails to allure me. It intrigues me how easily influenced our mind can be. Pessimistic influences from our peers are understandable at times; but we ourselves beguiling it? To say, "That's  beyond my understanding", is an understatement! More than that, it is surprisingly shocking to fathom how self-centred people have nurtured into. People are too beauty conscious and are always in pressure that society imposes. They let others define their beauty and this phenomenon, little by little, embeds into their subconscious mind. The way they look physically is never satisfying and, in turn, they gravitate to wanting more. A self-created image forms in the mind and they consistently keep comparing themselves to it. Flaws are the only trait that they see and calories are the only maths that they mastered in! Well, weighing scales, on the other hand, are the most dreaded equipment. Every time they stood in front of a mirror, they...
